Zotac International, a global manufacturer of graphics cards and mini PCs announced that it has begun to distribute to stores its PC ZBOX mini Plus Windows 8.1. As the name suggests, comes with Windows 8.1 preinstalled, the main novelty in theory is that Microsoft is giving away the OS with this model because its price is has not increased compared with other ZBOX from Zotac that comes without an operating system.
Windows 8.1 with Bing is coming to the ZBOX CA320 Nano, ZBOX CI320 Nano, ZBOX CI320 and the old Zbox ID18. All of them feature 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD, much like the ZBOX ID18 Special Edition. However, we still don’t know the prices.
“Customers asked us to include the Windows operating system on our ZBOX mini PCs, so that the systems are ready to use from the time of purchase,” said Tony Wong, CEO of Zotac, “We listened to our customers and thanks to Microsoft have introduced Windows 8.1 with Bing”
Some users say that this is the way that Microsoft should adapt, giving away complete copies of its operating system to OEMs, now that they have so much competition with Android and Chrome OS who are alsoe free.
The Zotac ZBOX Plus Windows 8.1 is available in four versions (CI320 nano, nano CA320, BI320 and ID18, whose characteristics can be seen in the table below:
