A few weeks ago Samsung made the official announcement of the its awaited smartphone the Samsung Galaxy S3 , which is considered by many as the reference smartphone from Android right now. It came loaded with both new hardware and software, but a key aspect is its autonomy, it must be good compared to its rivals and is what we will take a look at today.

Undoubtedly one of the main problems facing today’s smartphones is their autonomy , which in many cases is how you make use of the phone’s battery as it can not last 24 hours , and this even includes smartphones models that cost big money.

Galaxy S3 has hardware that will surprise alot of people, as it is counting on a quad-core Exynos 4212 processor manufactured at 32nm and a screen featuring a 4.8 inch screen with HD Super AMOLED as major components in the level of consumption is concerned. It’s easy to think that with four cores and with a big screen consumption will be excessive, but Samsung has used a good processor that has efficiency in mind, because it consumes less than the model fitted on the Galaxy S2, and offers more performance.

The guys at GSM Arena have been able to run autonomy test on the Galaxy S3 in what appears to be a preproduction unit and have tested its 2.100mAh battery. Let us see the results.

Let’s start with the duration of phone conversations, it is worth nothing that in this case the screen would not stay on, as usual. It lasted 10 hours and 20 minutes , this figure is above the model it replaces, the Galaxy S2, also beats the HTC One S, One V,  the iPhone 4S and many other models. Instead loses to the Galaxy Note, Samsung Wave 3 S8600 and no one can beat the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, that has a great battery and beats all by a landslide.

We now turn to see the battery duration  when you use the web browser . In this case as usual the screen has to be on and it shows in the consumption, for we are talking about a 4.8-inch screen. It lasted 5 hours and 17 minutes , a figure that places it above the Galaxy S2 but below many other phones such as the HTC One S and the iPhone 4S, also the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX continues to dominate the table.

Finally its time to see how long the battery lasts when you use video playback . The Samsung S3 Galaxy surprises and placed in the second position of the table with 10 hours and 1 minute , ahead of many phones such as the HTC One S or iPhone4S , but behind the almighty Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX.

There are many variables to note when making this type of test, as the intensity of brightness or how well the data network connected to is, this can serve as a preview but will wait to see its autonomy in other specialized tests. Anyway these tests of the Galaxy S3 has been shown the phone to have a good range, of course improved, but not bad taking into account the characteristics of the phone.
