Just recently we’ve learned that Intel itself has let “slip” the fact that its about to release a processor that theoretically will hit the market in the coming weeks, we’re talking about the Intel Core i7-6950X Extreme Edition. The leak occurred in the release notes of the Intel Management Engine software, so we can assume that Intel is about to release a new CPU.
With Intel looks to be pushing its high end (Extreme Edition) range. In the release notes we see two characteristics: the base speed of 3.50 GHz and L3 cache size, in this case 25 MB. The rest of specifications are unknown and therefore can only make assumptions about them. it is expected that the new Core i7-6950X has precisely 10 physical cores.
Some sites are suggesting the i7-6950X Extreme Edition would have a price range of $400, $550, $1000 and $1500.
