Protect your data with hard disk partitions

Disk partitions are meant to divide your hard drive into different sections or partition tables. With them we can ensure that our data is safe if damaged by the operating system or by malware or error record.

If if we need to format the computer we only need to format the C: partition so that our data is not affected, since it is stored in a different partition.

Also facilitates backups, and can separate our important data backup and we only need to back up the archives that are necessary.

This is one of the biggest advantages of disk partitions, but remember that this method does not provide security in case of losing the HD so it is always advisable to make backups to external drives, DVDs, CDs, etc..

Partitions provide these benefits but some say these shorten the life of the hard drive, because the data is sent further away from each other and to look for them shortens the life of the reading head.

There is a myth that the disk partitions increase the speed of access to data that is not true and is quite the opposite because the data is further apart.

My recommendation: Make a partition for the operating system and software installation and one for data. Save the data partition documents, photos, videos and our most important things and make regular backups to an external disk partition.
