NVIDIA to release the GeForce GTX 980 Ti in summer 2015 based on GM200
With the TITAN X having a $1000 price tag, it has become one of the most sought after video cards that very few can actually afford.
This is why Nvidia is said to be working on a cheaper alternative, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti based on the new GM200 GPU, that will come with a price tag of around $700, there are also those who claim that not everyone needs 12 gigabytes of video memory. Therefore, we’ve heard in the past speculation about the possible release of a less expensive cards based on the same chip that will go by the name GeForce GTX 980 Ti. At this price range we should expect it to compete with AMD Radeon R9 390X.
IGN is reporting that the alleged GTX 980 Ti will include a full GM200 core with 3,074 CUDA cores–just like the $1,000 USD Titan X–this card will only include 6GB of GDDR5 memory, as opposed to the Titan X’s 12GB.
However, according to the Swedish site Sweclockers, is saying that the GeForce GTX 980 Ti will have a 10% higher clock speed of its graphics core, and only in the amount of video memory, will the TITAN X be better as it is speculated that GeForce GTX 980 Ti will come with 6 GB of GDDR5 video memory. But we know that the vast majority of games it should be enough to game at 4K resolution (3840 × 2160).
