Anyone planning to upgrade before the big autumn  titles can look forward to a new generation of graphics cards from AMD in time for the launch of Battlefield 4. It is about the Hawaii flagship along with a number of newcomers to the Radeon R200 series, which consists of both new and familiar graphics processors.

Radeon R9 290 and R9-290X

HIS graphics cards in the Radeon R200 series:

  •      HIS R9 280X iPower IceQ X ² Boost clock 3GB GDDR5 DLDVI-I/HDMI/2xMini DP
  •      HIS R7 250 iCooler 2GB DDR3 HDMI / SLDVI-D / VGA

Partner manufacturer HIS has added and removed some of the model names for the new generation Radeon. It involves seven models, by all accounts with existing GPUs from Graphics Core Next.

This means that the Radeon R9-280X probably contains a Tahiti GPU, used in today’s Radeon HD 7900 series. The next series of models in the R7-series graphics cards in the mid-range market, again very similar to the corresponding models from the 7000 series.

We also have heard of the big news of Radeon R9 290 and R9-290X, two performance-oriented newcomers with the renowned graphics processor Hawaii. These will not be made available to HIS, which reinforces suspicions that today’s leak is about models with existing graphics processors, or pin-compatible ones – which are already in production.
