Gigabyte releases its modest GA-X170-Extreme ECC motherboard

Gigabyte has finally spilled the beans about its latest Intel socket LGA1151, motherboard the Gigabyte GA-X170-Extreme ECC. Although a “workstation” motherboard it may also be considered somewhat of a gaming board this is due to its Intel C236 chipset, which by the way will support an Intel Xeon E3-1200 V5, as well as the 6th generation Intel “Skylake” processors.

The Gigabyte will also allow you to hype your your ram via DDR4 ECC, but will require an ATX case, its powered by a 24 pin + EPS +12 V.

also features PCIe 3.0 x16 (that functions in x8 / x8 configuration), includes a third PCIe 3.0 x16 built into PCH that functions in x4.

Another cool feature is its 2 USB 3.1 ports manufactured by Intel, that connects it to the PCH via a PCIe 3.0 x4, as opposed to other motherboards that use USB 3.1 that use PCIe 3.0 x2 . This means this board can get speeds of up to 10 Gb / s per port, oh yeah it also comes with Thunderbolt 3 that reaches speeds of 40 Gb / s per pert, with DisplayPort 1.2.

Other notable features:

  • Creative Core3D, TI Burr Brown OPA2134 OPAMP
  • Gigabyte UEFI Bios
  • Gigabit Ethernet one with Intel I219-V, the other with Killer E2400
  • Gigabyte UEFI Bios
